Exploring the Beautiful Buttes

Looking for a place to hike nearby but aren’t an expert? Surprisingly enough, the Sierra Buttes has a direct and relatively easy hiking trail to reach the summit with the opportunity to see magnificent views of PlumasCounty

The Sierra Buttes offers a craggy peak of volcanic origin with countless pinnacles, including a summit pinnacle that is about 100 feet high! If climbing along such rocky formidable terrain seems daunting to you, there is the aid of sturdy steel staircases that reach all the way to the top.

Although they are beautiful year round and attract various crowds in spring and summer, during the winter months the Sierra Buttes contain several steep ski runs on their snow-capped flanks that give great challenge to even the most seasoned of skiers.

The nearby Plumas Eureka State Park was the sight of the first downhill ski resort in California! There are so many places to explore and enjoy no matter the season.

Several flanks in the Sierra Buttes have deep glacial canyons with glacial lakes perfect for fishing and swimming in the summer, including the Lakes Basin area.

Being just a short detour from the Pacific Crest Trail, they would be a great transitional hike if you wanted to make a day of seeing the sights and hiking in Sierra County.

Keep us in mind after your adventures. We are never too busy to hear tips, pointers and experiences our guests have had. And now is the perfect time to pack some warm winter clothes and see the beginning stages of winter in full effect.

Through the month of November, Pioneer RV Park is doing our $100 promotion for a four night consecutive stay FHU for two people so give us a call and take advantage of this great deal!  (530) 283-0769.
